
Pretzel lovers from across the country submitted sweet and savory recipes for Auntie Anne’s first-ever At-Home Baking Kit Recipe Challenge, but just one pretzel-based recipe took home the $1,000 grand prize. Putting her unique twist on a common dessert, Chaelyn Consaul of New York, won the judges’ top vote with her Strawberry Cheesecake Dessert Pizza.
Claiming the first place title, and winning $500, was Texas-based Amy LaGrone’s savory BBQ Chicken Wraps. Described by one judge as BBQ chicken and fresh vegetables wrapped in light pretzel pita bread, most judges envisioned this recipe as a summertime lunch or dinner option.
After the contest ended on March 31, Auntie Anne’s Food Science and Technology Department narrowed all submitted recipes to the top 10. These 10 were highlighted on Auntie Anne’s In the Kitchen Facebook page where the Fan Favorite was determined by fan “likes.” The winner, Ronna Farley of Maryland, was awarded $250 for her Gooey Pretzel Bars. The bars feature Auntie Anne’s pretzel dough as a base, topped with caramel, chocolate and pecans.
