HOW IT ALL STARTED

“Auntie” Anne and Jonas Beiler created Auntie Anne’s with caring for others in mind. That’s why our pretzels are handcrafted, freshly baked and handed right over. Pick one up – it returns the favor.

1988

“Auntie” Anne and Jonas Beiler bought a stand in a Downingtown, Pa., farmers market and began selling the same Original Pretzel and lemonade that everyone knows and loves today.

1989

The start to our franchising really began when the first store opened at a the Saturday's Market in Middletown, Pa.

1992

We celebrated the 100th Auntie Anne’s store opening in Granite Run Mall, Media, Pa.

1995

Auntie Anne’s first travel location opened at Penn Station in New York City. The round-the-world tour that continues today began with the opening of a store in Jakarta, Indonesia.

We proudly introduced the Original and Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Stix – the perfect snack when you’re on the go.

Pretzel Dogs are welcomed to the line-up — an Auntie Anne’s pretzel freshly baked around a Nathan’s Famous® Hot Dog.

“Auntie” Anne and Jonas Beiler, the company founders, sold Auntie Anne’s to fully devote themselves to their original vision of opening a family-counseling center.

2006

A new and exciting brand image and promise to be “Pretzel Perfect” was launched on the same day as an inaugural Free Pretzel Day.

February 2, we celebrated our 20th birthday with free, fresh-baked pretzels.

Celebrated our worldwide grand opening at the 1,000th store in Fresno, Ca.

The king of snacks, a Pepperoni Pretzel, as well as five fruity Lemonade Mixer flavors, were introduced to the menu.

2010

Auntie Anne’s joined the FOCUS Brands portfolio.

Pretzel Nuggets were introduced to provide pretzel lovers with fresh-baked convenience and portability.

Our partnership with Food Donation Connection began — matching stores throughout the country with local hunger relief organizations to donate surplus pretzel products.

2011

A national charitable partnership was formed with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation to raise money for childhood cancer research, prevention and treatment. Nearly $1 million dollars has been raised to fund life-saving research.

A flagship military base location opened at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX, giving troops support in the shape of fresh-baked pretzels.
